Blue Sapphire and Lapis Alabastra Earrings

While the most ancient perfume bottles, called alabaster, were formed of its namesake material, quickly their makers turned to glass in patterns mimicking lapis and marble. The elongated, drop-like vessels held cedar, rose, amber, and myrrh, among other popular oils, variously chosen for their soothing or sensual qualities. Our blue sapphire and lapis alabastra are topped with gold caps, suspended from a post-backed gold-and-sapphire oval.
